Visit by His Excellency The Governor and Lady Dutton

The Governor Sir James Dutton and Lady Dutton recently visited the Air Terminal as part of their familiarisation programme of Gibraltar. 

They were met be the Air Terminal Director, Mr Terence Lopez and members of the management team and proceeded to tour the different areas of the building, which was operational at the time.
During the visit they were briefed on how the airport systems worked and shown some of the technical rooms and “back of the house” areas where they had the opportunity of meeting members of staff of different organisations at work.

Special Olympics Success

Gibraltar International Airport recently welcomed the return of the Gibraltar Special Olympics Swimming Team.

One of the members of the recent successful Special Olympics group of swimmers who took part in the Princess Charlene Swimming Meeting in Monaco was Malcolm Miel, who works at the Air Terminal. Malcolm, who is employed by the Support Employment Company, is a member of a small team who assist Gibraltar Air Terminal Ltd in the day-to-day running of the Terminal. He returned to Gibraltar with both a Bronze and a Silver medal.

New Security Rules

Starting 31st January 2014, duty free liquids purchased from any airport or airline may be carried as hand luggage.

Any duty free liquid and receipt must be sealed at the time of purchase inside a security bag with a red border and must not be opened until you arrive at your final destination.
If you have a connecting flight, security staff may need to open the security bag for screening. If this is the case then please alert the security officer so your duty free liquids may be re-sealed in a new security bag.

EasyJet introduces 100% Online Check in

Since 30th April 2013 EasyJet has been operating an 'online only' check-in process from all of its destinations, including Gibraltar International Airport.

The check-in experience at airports has been changed by removing traditional check-in desks and replacing them with Bag Drop desks. This has enabled EasyJet to streamline the airport experience and remove unnecessary queuing.

To check in online, passengers need their unique EasyJet Booking Reference Number, which is stated on their itinerary. Only Booking Reference and passenger Name is required for online check in.

A Busy Summer For The Airport

Gibraltar International Airport (GIB) is gearing up for a busy Summer 2013 season.

The season, which officially started on Sunday 31st March and runs through to Saturday 26th October, will be the first summer where operations are fully handled from the new terminal building. More than 1,800 flights are planned with 300,444 seats available to 5 destinations until the end of October.

More to London Heathrow with British Airways

The Government of Gibraltar welcomes the announcement from British Airways that they are to increase their winter 2012/3 schedule to Gibraltar from London Heathrow from seven to nine flights per week. The Hon Neil Costa, Minister for Tourism, Public Transport and the Port, said, “We are delighted that British Airways have decided to increase their capacity from Heathrow on Saturdays and Sundays. We have been in discussions with the airline about increasing capacity on the route for a while and in particular to offer a later departure from London.
